Alongside delivering a world-class facility providing a huge regenerative effect that will leave a legacy both locally and regionally, Wates delivered outstanding social value initiatives to support education, the economy, employment and the community in an area which was in the top 5% of deprived wards in the country. Through fundraising £40k for local charities, employing 36 apprentices, providing long-term work experience placements, volunteering 4 weeks-worth of time with local community projects, delivering Construction Pathways sessions to inspire the next generation and tackling long-term unemployment through ‘mentoring circles’ the team has made a lasting difference which should be celebrated.
